WELCOME TO AIKIDO OF MIAMI
Aikido is a traditional martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba and
based on the principles of balance and harmony. When practicing
Aikido, we utilize circular movement to redirect attacks and we blend
and “lead” the attacker into a variety of throws, pins and joint locking techniques.
The word “aikido” is formed of three kanji (Japanese characters):
合 – ai – joining, harmonizing
気 – ki – spirit, life energy
道 – dō – way, path
Because the emphasis is on blending with the attack instead of
clashing head on and using force, the practice of Aikido does not rely
on strength and can be enjoyed by men, women and children of all
ages.
ABOUT AIKIDO OF MIAMI
Founded by Sensei Gustavo Ramos 7 th . Dan, Shihan and Marcel Gonzalez 4th. Dan Shidoin.
We are members of the United States Aikido Federation and the Aikikai Foundation Aikido World Headquarters, Hombu Dojo, the original founding organization of the founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba “OSensei”.
OUR CHIEF INSTRUCTORS
Gustavo Ramos 7 th. Dan Shihan
Started Aikido in 1979, under the direction of Nelson Andujar Sensei 7th. Dan Shihan and Yoshimitsu Yamada 8 th . Dan Shihan. Also previously practiced from 1968 Shotokan Karate and taught Five Animal Kung Fu and Chin-na.
Marcel Gonzalez 4 th. Dan Shidoin
Started Aikido in 1998, in Habana, Cuba under the direction of Sensei Alfredo Ruiz Fleitas and also previously practiced Judo and Muay Thai for many years.
